Polk Street Players Announces Awards and 2013-14 Season By dlh
On June 22, in front of a large and enthusiastic audience of supporters in the Parish Hall at St. James' Episcopal Church in Marietta, Polk Street Players announced the 2012-13 season award winners and the exciting lineup for the 2013-14 season.
The acting awards went to: Charles Hannum (Best Male Newcomer, "Let's Murder Marsha"); Karina Matechak (Best Female Newcomer, "The Dining Room"); Corey Glover (Best Supporting Actor, "Let's Murder Marsha"); Diane Hail (Best Supporting Actress, "Winter Glory"); Steve Pryor (Best Actor, "Winter Glory"); Tracey Egan (Best Actress, "The Dining Room" and "Dream Lover"). The "Audience Favorite Play" award went to "The Dining Room", directed by Mary Nimsgern.
The Fred Runde Award honoring one of PSP's founders went to Rial and Kathy Ellsworth for their generous service to PSP.
Board Chair Mary Nimsgern announced PSP's smart and funny 2013-14 season which includes: "Rex's Exes" by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, directed by Pete Borden (Aug. 16-31); "A Thousand Clowns" by Herb Gardner, directed by Stephen Banks (Nov. 8-23); "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Jeffrey Hatcher & Mitch Albom, directed by Barbara Rudy (Feb. 14-March 1); and "At First Sight" by Anne Pie, directed by Lane Teilhaber (May 9-24).
