Virginia's Real, by Dwayne Yancey

Itís been a few weeks since I ventured to the Cobb Play House to see Virginianís Real and Iím just now giving my own humble opinion of the show. The performances in this original story were well done and fit the setting of the story, however I felt the story was some what like building a puzzle. As the plot unfolded and the story and especially the characters seemed to begin building momentum to what seemed like would be a fun and interesting ending the play was over. I felt like I had finished building a puzzle and had a few pieces missing. Iím sure the writer had this ending in mind so we could all imagine the ending ourselves, but it just left me feeling like ďwowĒ, are you sure Itís over.

This was a well done job with this classic children story that leaped off the pages of the book and came to life on the stage. The cast had quite a collection of appealing characters, particularly Adam Zangara who portrayed a very funny Judge Thatcher and Melissa Tillery who did a wonderful job as Becky Thatcher.
