Having seen Les Mis around the civilized world and in parts of Alabama, I have to say that this particular production tops them all. What the director has done - her vision, her attention to detail - is nothing short of magnificent. Her effective use of the space available, the lighting design, the set, the costumes are cherries on top of an already-incredible production. These young people - their good, strong voices coupled with their acting abilities - make this show go by all too quickly. It's hard to connect emotionally with an audience in an outdoor venut, but this show does, as evidenced by the sniffling heard throughout the amphitheater. Wish it had a longer run. It's worth seeing more than once.
