The Music Man, by Meredith Willson
The Music Man Takes Note
Sunday, July 7, 2002
5.0
A Meredith Willson classic about a con man who comes to town to swindle, but stays and falls in love.
Directed by Shawn Loflin and Marta Summer. This is by far the best musical I have seen out of Little General Playhouse. I do not know if it was new blood running the show, but it is working for the playhouse. The direction of the play was superb and the sound of the cast was excellent.
Kristine Lynch (Marian Paroo) was brilliant in her character and to top her performance off, she has a voice that will make any grown person cry. With her octave range and clarity, I see her doing a lot more theater in the Atlanta area. The pick-a-little ladies were hilarious. How they got that song out, I will never know. Of course we cannot forget about the wonderful quartet. Great harmony with every thing they sang.
I am not sure if this is true or not, but I overheard someone talking in the lobby saying this was one of the biggest opening weekends for the playhouse and I honestly see why. Oh course for an opening weekend there were a few minuet errors, but it did not take away from my enjoyment of the show.
I recommend everyone see this play. Trust me when I say it is worth it.
