The Experts Say...

Creative Loafing
by Curt Holman
October 12, 2000
Curt sez that although the Tavern's "Faustus" is a crisp and sound adaptation of Marlowe's script, it also "rarely engages the emotions and fails to reach a forceful conclusion." He says that Pettrow "isn't quite versatile enough to succeed in all the play's roles but still has a sinuous, sinister presence." And that "Tulaine's swaggering fits Faustus' ambition...but while he brings plenty of showy physicality to the role,he doesn't foster much intimacy or empathy with the audience..."
