The Thinks That You Think (Version 2.0)
by Dedalus
Monday, March 3, 2008
4.5
On Saturday Night,
When the lights were just right,

With My little girl Julia
(And she’ll never fool ‘ya),

We decided to go
To a musical show,

Cause we heard the good news,
That our favorite Seuss

Was on the big stage.
Well, the show’s all the rage

With the cat and the elephant,
And the songs that are relephant,

With monkeys and birds,
And all those fun words.

So we sat on the stairs,
(There were no empty chairs),

And we clapped to the songs,
We forgot all our wrongs,

‘Cause the show is a joy,
For each girl and each boy,

Even critics who scowl --
Even they shouted “Wowl!”

You can do a lot worse,
Than some comments in verse

From a Dedalus Mind
(Fogged by lots of cheap wine)

In these ludicrous times
With these doggerel rhymes.

Jill Hames preened as Mayzie --
She’s back! She’s still crazy!

Melkonian’s there,
As Gertrude, I swear --

She made us both giggle,
With her tail and her wiggle.

Jahi Kearse was the Cat
(In that red and white hat),

Jamiah Hudson, a good JoJo --
She’s young, on the Go-Go.

And we really liked Horton,
Justin Tanner’s Importon,

They are all very fine
(Like a not-so-cheap wine).

At the end of the show,
When we got up to go,

In our heads songs were ringing,
From the marvelous singing.

As were colors and sights,
from the never-still lights,

And the stories we heard,
Still bizarre! Still absurd!

This play you should see,
It’ll give you such glee,

And your kids you should take,
For your sanity’s sake.

It’s a very fine musical,
This show that’s called “Seussical.”
