Produced in partnership with the National Black Arts Festival, Theatrical Outfit brings back Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder’s Gee’s Bend, recent winner of the 2008 M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award for an emerging playwright. Noted by the AJC as one of 2007’s “Best Shows,” Gee’s Bend tells the story of the courageous African-American quilters from Gee’s Bend, Alabama, whose faith and craft transformed suffering and injustice into beauty and meaning. Director Gary Yates and the original cast return from the Outfit’s fall 2007 production. July 16-27, 2008. Weds. - Sats. at 7:30 pm; Sats. and Suns. at 2:30 pm. $25.
