PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION

This gem of musical theater adapts Clarence Jordan's "Cotton Patch" versions of the gospels of Matthew and John for the stage, transplanting the story of Jesus into the mid-20th century American South. It considers what might have happened had Jesus been born in Gainesville, Georgia about 1936 and starts his public ministry in the mid-1960's. Fantastic folk style music written by Harry Chapin chronicles the journey throughout the south (Atlanta, Stone Mountain and the Chattahoochee River are visited along the way!)
