PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION

“Lorca: Alone in a Dream”, is an original play written and directed by Atlantan Sydney Mitchell. It’s based on the life of musician, poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, who died in 1936 after achieving international recognition as a member of the “Generation of ‘27”, an influential group of Spanish poets. He is presumed to have been executed by Nationalists at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. The play opens on the eve of the war, as Lorca anxiously awaits his fate alone in a guarded cell. As morning approaches, Lorca is escorted through a dream-like remembrance of his life by his friends, family and characters from his plays. The audience moves through the theater space with him, to better experience the story.
