PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION

Set at the dawn of the 20th century, RAGTIME features rollicking ragtime music and soaring ballads by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. By weaving historical figures like Emma Goldman and Booker T. Washington into a fictional tale of people from very different backgrounds meeting under very difficult circumstances, the hit musical tells the story of America as it went through sometimes glorious, sometimes violent social upheaval. RAGTIME paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of life in turn of the century America by intertwining three distinct stories illustrating history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, love and hate. Performed by the talented students of the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School, this production is definitely not to be missed.
