PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION

Social Maladies: the Comedies, the company’s first show, consists of twelve original pieces that range from the intimately confessional to the outrageously absurd. “We’re looking at what it means to be human and where we stand as young artists,” says Deisha Oliver, Artistic Director. While each scene’s tactics may be different (in “Ode to Addiction or Abuse-ical the Musical,” different forms of addiction are channeled into a vaudevillian musical; in “sometimes y,” a young man, with the help of his conscience, deals with the memories that have made him who he is), the goal remains clear: hold the mirror up to both the audience and the performers, and find where the commonality is.
